The Homestead Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is working to transform a series of vacant storefronts along North Krome Avenue into a vibrant dining and entertainment destination called Krome Marketplace. Spanning three buildings with over 170 feet of street frontage, the project seeks experienced partners to develop a signature restaurant, bar, and entertainment venue that will help anchor Homestead’s revitalizing downtown. Strategically located in the heart of the city, this initiative marks a key milestone in public-private efforts to reenergize the area.
We are building bright tomorrows in Downtown Homestead including multiple developments in the works within the transportation, residential and retail sectors. Exciting Times Ahead
Krome Marketplace
MetroEXPRESS Launched
MetroEXPRESS, Miami-Dade County’s first all-electric Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, officially launched in October 2025, offering faster and more reliable service across South Dade. The 20-mile corridor features 14 modern stations from Florida City to the Dadeland South Metrorail Station, with amenities like air-conditioned waiting areas, real-time arrival displays, and level boarding. With stops in Homestead—including adjacent to the Homestead Station entertainment complex and BRT parking—residents can now reach Downtown Miami in under an hour, improving access to jobs, education, and healthcare.
Triangle Redevelopment
The Triangle Redevelopment Project is a transformative mixed-use, mixed-income development that will serve as a new gateway to the historic SW 4th Street and Southwest Neighborhood district. Featuring rental and for-sale housing, neighborhood retail, a linear park, pocket park, and publicly accessible rooftop amenities, the project will be a major step forward in revitalizing the area. Located just steps from the Krome Avenue MetroEXPRESS station, it offers residents the opportunity to live in a walkable, transit-connected part of Homestead.
Old City Hall Site & Flanigan’s
The former Homestead City Hall site, a ±16-acre city-owned property, is being repositioned for future mixed-use redevelopment. Rezoning has been completed, and final plans for utility and roadway upgrades are underway, with construction expected to begin in early 2026. As part of this effort, the City Council has approved the sale of approximately ±2.5 acres to Flanigan’s Enterprises, Inc. for a new restaurant and retail store. These developments reflect growing momentum in Downtown Homestead’s dining and entertainment scene.
Krome Avenue Utility & Streetscape Replacement
The City of Homestead and CRA are undertaking a major infrastructure upgrade along historic Krome Avenue, replacing aging sewer mains between Lucy Street and NW 4th Street. This utility and streetscape project will improve service reliability and support future redevelopment. Planned enhancements include wider sidewalks for outdoor dining, improved landscaping, new signage and wayfinding, upgraded street lighting, and modern furnishings, all designed to foster long-term reinvestment and connectivity in the heart of downtown.
Paseo Park
To enhance the aesthetics of Downtown Homestead and improve access from the 800+ public parking spaces at Homestead Station, the CRA has demolished a derelict building on Mowry Drive and is developing plans for a new Paseo Park. This pedestrian-friendly green space will create a direct connection from the parking garage to Losner Park and the historic downtown core. Construction is scheduled to begin following the conclusion of the Winter Wonderland festivities.
